EPL WEEK 9: PREDICTIONS

Newcastle (H) vs Chelsea (A)

Head to Head: Chelsea 25 wins Newcastle 13 wins 12 draws

An intriguing match up that offers Newcastle the opportunity to win 2 home games in a row for the first time since Dec 2019. Chelsea will be missing Thiago Silva & Christian Pulisic but welcome back Kai Havertz. Hakim Ziyech & Timo Werner will be dangerous upfront. Look out for the dangerous Callum Wilson to put a dent in Chelsea's hopes of getting all 3 points. Prediction: Chelsea 2-1

Aston Villa (H) vs Brighton (A)

Head to Head: Aston Villa 1 win 1 draw

The Villains were impressive last time around accounting for the high flying Gunners. Brighton have never won at Villa Park in all competitions, losing 9 and drawing 3 of their matches. While the Seagulls have been impressive on the pitch, performances haven't translated into results and manager Graham Potter would love a win to ease some pressure on himself and his squad. Prediction: Aston Villa 1-0

Tottenham Hotspur (H) vs Manchester City (A)

Head to Head: Spurs 24 wins City 15 wins 7 draws

An early contender for match of the week with two top teams battling it out & two tactical managers pitted against each other. Spurs will be looking at winning 4 games in a row for the first time since Feb 2019 under Pochettino. The dangerous combo of Harry Kane & Son Heung-Min will look to add to their goals/assists tally while the likes of Sterling, De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus & Sergio Aguero will look to win one for Pep Guardiola who has committed to a new 2 year deal at Etihad stadium. Prediction: 2-2 draw

Manchester United (H) vs West Bromwich Albion (A)

Head to Head: Manchester United 15 wins West Brom 4 wins 5 draws

United are yet to win a home game at Old Trafford this season & have let in the most goals at home in the premier league this season. The Baggies are winless this season and could catch United out cold with an upset after the international break while United & Solksjaer will be desperate to improve their lowly position on the league table.

Prediction: West Brom 1-0

Fulham (H) vs Everton (A)

Head to Head: Everton 17 wins Fulham 9 wins 2 draws

Since Richarlison's sending off, the Toffees have lost all 3 of their matches and all 8 matches overall that the Brazilian striker has not been a part of. His return this weekend should reignite Everton's torrid start to the season and with James Rodriguez pulling strings in the middle, expect striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin to be the benefactor. Prediction: Everton 3-0

Sheffield United (H) vs West Ham (A)

Head to Head: Sheffield United 3 wins West Ham 1 win 2 draws

The Blades are bottom of the table and winless but are at home to the Hammers who welcome back Angelo Ogbonna. Mikhail Antonio also resumes training for the Hammers. Trouble looms for manager Chris Wilder's continued tenure if the Blades don't start winning soon. Prediction: West Ham 2-0

Leeds (H) vs Arsenal (A)

Head to Head: Arsenal 12 wins Leeds 8 wins 4 draws

Intriguing match up as both teams have been impressive at times and yet coming off poor losses in their last matches prior to the international break. Arsenal will miss the impressive Thomas Partey in midfield while Leeds welcome back Kalvin Phillips & Rodrigo. Under Biesla, Leeds have lost their last 2 matches and the plucky Argentinian will be hoping to stop the rot at home against the Gunners. Prediction: Leeds 3-2

Liverpool (H) vs Leicester City (A)

Head to Head: Liverpool 15 wins, Leicester 7 wins 6 draws

Another contender for match of the week. Liverpool are unbeaten at fortress Anfield for 63 games matching their last unbeaten run between Feb 78 & Dec 80. The team that ended that run? Leicester. With Jamie Vardy in sensational scoring form & the Reds missing Salah (Covid) & captain Henderson, could former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers inspire the Foxes to victory? Prediction: Leicester 2-1

Burnley (H) vs Crystal Palace (A)

Head to Head: Crystal Palace 5 wins Burnley 4 wins 1 draw

Burnley are still to win a league match this season after 5 losses & 2 draws. The Eagles were impressive last time around with a 4-1 win against high flyers and Wilfried Zaha is the catalyst for the Eagles with 5 goals and 2 assists so far this season. Burnley have Johann Gudmundsson, Robbie Brady, Jack Stephens and Charlie Taylor all struggling with injuries and a depleted squad will struggle to avoid 4 home defeats at Turf Moor for the first time ever. Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-0

Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) vs Southampton (A)

Head to Head: Southampton 3 wins, Wolves 2 wins 1 draw

The impressive Saints will be looking to win a 4th straight league match for the first time since May 2016. Top goal scorer Danny Ings is sidelined after minor knee surgery but the impressive Che Adams has stepped up with 3 goals in 4 games. James Ward-Prowse & Ryan Bertrand are also back in training. Wolves are coming off a narrow loss to Leicester but manager Nuno won Oct manager of the month award after his team was unbeaten throughout. Prediction: 2-2 draw
