Premier League predictions is back with Monday games picks!
Leicester (H) vs Manchester United (A)
Head to Head: Manchester United 19 wins Leicester 2 wins 7 draws\
Manchester United have a strong record in Boxing Day games having the most wins (21) and the highest win ratio (81%) of any premier league side in the competition. Jamie Vardy is back for Leicester and manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking for his striker to add to his tally of 11 goals & 4 assists so far this season. Leicester have lost 19 matches and conceded 60 goals against Man Utd, the most against any side in the competition. After Man Utd's stunning 6-2 demolition of Leeds last week, look for manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to continue his team's winning ways with a chance to equal Chelsea (April-Dec 2008) & Man City's (May-Dec 2017) away wins tally of 11 consecutive away game wins.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0
Aston Villa (H) vs Crystal Palace (A)
Head to Head: Crystal Palace 6 wins Aston Villa 5 wins 5 draws
A heavy 7-0 defeat against Liverpool last weekend means Crystal Palace start out underdogs against a Villa side that has kept a league high 7 clean sheets, as many as they kept in the whole of last season. Gary Cahill is out injured (hamstring) for the Eagles while the Villains will be without Ross Barkley who is now back in training. This will be Eagles manager Roy Hodgson's 341st match as manager in the competition overtaking Rafa Benitez in the top 10 but we don't think there will be much to celebrate at the end of the full-time whistle.
Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0
Fulham (H) vs Southampton (A)
Head to Head: Fulham 4 wins Southampton 4 wins 6 draws
While Fulham have steadied a leaking defence with 3 consecutive draws in their last 3 games, they will face the Saints without their manager Scott Parker on the sidelines who is self isolating after a member of his household tested positive to the covid19 virus. Matt Wells & Stuart Gray will take charge but the manager will be in constant dialogue with his assistants and will also be in touch via phone with his dugout. Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic will be looking to end his 10 match PL goalless streak, his longest run without a goal in English league football. The Saints on the other hand will be looking to make it 10 straight PL wins against promoted sides and have won 6 of their last 8 matches on Boxing Day (D1 L1) and three of their last four against Fulham in the premier league.
Prediction: Southampton 2-0
Arsenal (H) vs Chelsea (A)
Head to Head: Arsenal 20 wins Chelsea 19 wins 17 draws
Things don't get easier for the Gunners who face Chelsea this weekend. Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be a game time decision with a calf strain and manager Mikel Arteta will be praying that the Gabonese international is fit to play with the Gunners in 15th position on the ladder. Influential midfielder Thomas Partey is out with a thigh injury but Granit Xhaka & Gabriel return after serving suspensions for red card offences. Ben Chilwell & Reece James are in doubt for their next 2 matches while Hakim Ziyech is ruled out for Chelsea. The Gunners have won their last 9 home games in the premier league on Boxing Day while the Blues have lost just 2 of their last 17 matches against Arsenal with both defeats coming at Emirates Stadium, in September 2016 and January 2019.
Prediction: Chelsea 3-2
Manchester City (H) vs Newcastle United (A)
Head to Head: Man City 24 wins Newcastle 8 wins 8 draws
City manager Pep Guardiola will be without Kyle Walker & Gabriel Jesus who have both tested positive for Covid19. Sergio Aguero will be more than able to fill in for Jesus's absence. City have won their last 11 home matches against the Geordies scoring 39 and conceding just 7, their longest home winning run against any side in the top flight. Manager Steve Bruce is looking for his first PL win against the Citizens at his 13th attempt (W0 D3 L9). Look for City to coast to a win here. Prediction: Man City 3-0
Sheffield United (H) vs Everton (A)
Head to Head: Sheffield United 3 wins Everton 3 wins 2 draws
The Baggies will be without striker Oli McBurnie (shoulder) for the next 3 games while Everton will assess Richarlison for concussion after the Brazilian suffered a head knock against Manchester United in the midweek EFL cup tie. Everton will be looking to win 4 games straight for the 2nd time this season after having won their first 4 games of this season, which would make it the first time they have two 4+wins in the same season since the 1986/87 campaign. James Rodriguez is doubtful again with a calf injury while Allan, Fabian Delph & Lucas Digne are all sidelined.
Prediction: Everton 1-0
West Ham United (H) vs Brighton & Hove Albion (A)
Head to Head: Brighton 3 wins 3 draws
Brighton are in the relegation zone despite having played some decent football. West Ham, on the other hand are in mid table safety and having a decent season under new manager David Moyes. Surprisingly, Brighton are yet to lose a PL match against West Ham having won their first 3 and drawn their last 3 against the Hammers. The Hammers have a game time decision for Mikhail Antonio who is back in training after a prior hamstring injury setback.
Prediction: West Ham 2-1
Liverpool (H) vs West Bromwich Albion (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 14 wins West Brom 4 wins 6 draws
Liverpool go into the 2nd half of the season as league leaders while West Brom are in 19th. New manager Sam Allardyce was the last visiting manager to win at Anfield, doing so with Crystal Palace in April 2017. Liverpool's imposing home unbeaten record combined with their record of having won all 14 of their home matches against promoted sides under Jurgen Klopp (scored 41, conceded 7) means the Baggies goal will be under severe pressure. If Liverpool can play like they did last week against Crystal Palace, this game could be over by half-time. James Milner & Sheridan Shaqiri will be assessed after returning to training during the xmas break period. Prediction: Liverpool 4-1
Wolverhampton Wolves (H) vs Tottenham Hotspur (A)
Head to Head: Spurs 6 wins Wolves 4 wins 2 draws
Spurs are coming off consecutive losses to Leicester & Liverpool which has dented their title aspirations considering both teams are title challengers themselves. But with the likes of Harry Kane & Son Heung-Min a potent and dynamic duo, Wolves will be in for a tough fight. Raul Jimenez remains sidelined for Wolves with a head injury while Giovani Lo Celso is out for Spurs. Harry Kane will be gunning for a personal milestone with his next goal which would make him only the fourth Englishman to reach double figures in seven consecutive campaigns after Michael Owen, Frank Lampard (10) & Wayne Rooney (11)
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Last Week: 6 out of 10
Overall season: 65 out of 136
Prediction Success: 47.8%
