Now updated with Tuesday morning match predictions.
Crystal Palace (H) vs Liverpool (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 14 wins Crystal Palace 5 wins 3 draws
Liverpool will head into this match after a fantastic last gasp winner from Roberto Firmino against league leaders Tottenham mid week. Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke is an ex Liverpool player & heading into form and would love to score against his former team and remind them of what they let go. Since their return to the premier league in 2013, Palace have not kept a clean sheet against Liverpool in 14 matches (W4 D1 L9) and have lost 6 matches in a row against the Reds. Prediction: Liverpool 4-2
Southampton (H) vs Manchester City (A)
Head to Head: Man City 18 wins Southampton 7 wins 7 draws
The Saints are the feel good team of the year and are in 3rd place on the ladder, something the Citizens are used to normally. Both managers will have full strength squads to pick from but with a barrage of games over the Xmas/new year's period to come, players minutes will have to be managed to avoid injuries. The Saints won this fixture last year 1-0 and will be looking to repeat that performance here to have back to back wins against Man City for the first time since May 2003. Sergio Aguero is in contention after an injury scare in his last game against West Brom and will look to continue his fine form against the Saints with 10 goal involvements in his last 10 matches against the Saints (6 goals, 4 assists).
Prediction: 2-2 draw
Everton (H) vs Arsenal (A)
Head to Head: Arsenal 34 wins Everton 8 wins 14 draws
Arsenal have won more matches (34) and scored more goals (110) against Everton than any other opponent in the premier league. Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored last week against the Saints from open play and has scored 4 goals in his last 4 matches against the Toffees. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is on shaky ground if the Gunners don't make their way up the table with some decent results over the holiday fixtures and currently sit in 15th spot on the ladder. James Rodriguez is out for Everton & Arsenal are without Gabriel who is suspended after last's week dismissal against Southampton
Prediction: Everton 2-1
Newcastle United (H) vs Fulham (A)
Head to Head: Fulham 12 wins Newcastle United 10 wins 4 draws
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last 5 matches at home to Fulham (W3 D2). Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has a full strength squad to choose from while Fulham striker Bobby De Cordova-Reid will be a game time decision. Callum Wilson registered his 10th goal involvement (7 goals 3 assists) last week against Leeds in his 11th match, an assist for Jeff Hendrick. He is the quickest English player to get to that figure for Newcastle since Alan Shearer who achieved that feat in Oct 1996 (10th match).
Prediction: Newcastle 3-1
Brighton & Hove Albion (H) vs Sheffield United (A)
Head to Head: Sheffield United 1 win 1 draw
The Blades are still winless after 13 games into the season, with a solitary point to show for their efforts this campaign. Luckily, for the Blades, they have not lost their final league match before Xmas in any of the last 12 seasons (W6 D6). Their last such win was against..you guessed it..Brighton. A 1-0 away win. The Seagulls have a woeful home record since last June when they beat Arsenal 2-1 going winless in their last 10 matches since (D4 L6).
Prediction: Sheffield United 1-0
Tottenham Hotspur (H) vs Leicester City (A)
Head to Head: Spurs 12 wins Leicester 11 wins 5 draws
Both teams are coming off losses from their last games and will be hungry to win their last game before Christmas for their fans. This could be an absolute goal fest with Jamie Vardy for Leicester & the Son/Kane killer combo for Spurs combining for 31 goals and 18 assists collectively. Daniel Amartey & Timothy Castagne could return for Leicester and will help bolster Brendan Rodgers squad. Look for fast counter attacks from both sides in an entertaining match at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Prediction: Leicester 2-1
Manchester United (H) vs Leeds United (A)
Head to Head: Manchester United 13 wins Leeds 4 wins 7 draws
Leeds were in ominous goal-scoring form in their last game scoring 5 against Newcastle United last week. The Red Devils defence has been suspect all season long and will have headaches against a Leeds attack that plays fast, free-flowing football under Marcelo Biesla. Patrick Bamford has 9 goals in 13 premier league appearances this season and with a goal in this match could become the fastest Englishman to reach 10 goals for the club since Australian Mark Viduka reached that figure in 9 appearances in Nov 2000. Man Utd will again rely on their Portuguese talisman Bruno Fernandes while the return of Anthony Martial last week will provide manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer with options in attack.
Prediction: Manchester United 3-2
West Bromwich Albion (H) vs Aston Villa (A)
Head to Head: Aston Villa 7 wins West Brom 4 wins 9 draws
West Brom will have new manager Sam Allardyce in charge at the Hawthorns who has only lost his first premier league start for a new club once in Oct 2015 when Sunderland lost 1-0 to West Brom. West Brom are unbeaten in their last 8 encounters at home against Aston Villa in all competitions having won 3 and drawn 5 of those games. West Brom sit 2nd from bottom on the ladder but showed some spine in holding Manchester City to a draw last week. Villa will be relying on Jack Grealish to provide a spark to their campaign after their hot start earlier in the season and continue their good start in away matches this season having won more points (12) already than they did last season (11) when they barely escaped relegation on the last day of the premier league.
Prediction: Aston Villa 3-2
Burnley (H) vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)
Head to Head: Wolves 3 wins Burnley 1 win 2 draws
Burnley have the better form of the two teams coming into this match. After a horror start to their season, the Clarets have won 2 & drawn 2 of their last 5 games. Wolves will be missing Raul Jimenez again but Pedro Neto has stepped up in his absence with 6 goal involvements this season (4 goals, 2 assists) in 13 games so far, as many as last season (3 goals, 3 assists) in 29 games. Wolves were impressive against Chelsea last time around winning against one of the favourites to win the title.
Prediction: Wolves 3-1
Chelsea (H) vs West Ham (A)
Head to Head: Chelsea 25 wins West Ham 14 wins 9 draws
While Chelsea are seen as contenders for the title by most critics, their back to back losses in the last 2 games will have Frank Lampard annoyed and he will be keen to get his expensively assembled side bankrolled by Russian owner Roman Abramovich's billions back on track against fellow Londoners West Ham. Chelsea have lost just one to West Ham at home in their last 14 home games against the Hammers (W9 D4). The Hammers are in good form with contributions from a host of players including Jarrod Bowen (4 goals) and Aaron Cresswell (4 assists). The Hammers won both their matches last season against the Blues and will look to win 3 games against their London opponent for the first since a run of 4 games won between 1972 & 1974.
Prediction: Chelsea 3-2
Last Week: 2 out of 9
Overall season: 59 out of 126
Prediction Success: 46.8%
