Now updated with Friday matches predictions.
Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) vs Chelsea (A)
Head to Head: Chelsea 9 wins Wolves 2 wins 1 draw
Both teams are coming off losses against opposition that they were expected to win against but such is the depth & quality in the Premier League. A tough one to call. Wolves will be looking to avoid 3 straight defeats since November 2018. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will be looking to get back to winning ways and was critical of his team's title aspirations in his post match conference after the loss to Everton. Let's see how his team responds to his comments. Prediction: Chelsea 2-1
Manchester City (H) vs West Bromwich Albion (A)
Head to Head: Man City 17 wins West Brom 4 wins 3 draws
The Citizens will look to continue their longest winning streak against a specific opponent against the Baggies having won their last 13 matches against the Baggies. Sergio Aguero could finally get a start for Man City while West Brom will be looking for a 1st win at Etihad stadium with their last away win coming in 2003 at Maine Road.
Prediction: Man City 5-0
Arsenal (H) vs Southampton (A)
Head to Head: Arsenal 23 wins Southampton 7 wins 12 draws
The Gunners are in free fall and Mikel Arteta after early promise towards the end of last year has found the job increasingly difficult. With 4 losses in their last 5 games and a lone goal scored by a defender (Gabriel), Arsenal come into this home game in 15th position on the ladder. The Gunners will be without Granit Xhaka & Hector Bellerin (suspension) while David Luiz will be a game time decision but influential midfielder Nicholas Pepe returns from suspension. The Gunners are unbeaten in their 21 home matches against the Saints but this could change by tomorrow. Danny Ings has scored 3 goals in 3 matches against the Gunners in the Premier League & could become the first Saints player to score 4 goals against them.
Prediction: Southampton 3-1
Leeds (H) vs Newcastle United (A)
Head to Head: Newcastle 11 wins Leeds 5 wins 6 draws
Newcastle have won their last two matches while Leeds have lost their last two matches despite scoring first in each of the two games. A matchup of two mid table teams which should be a dour, rugged match. Newcastle are looking to win 3 PL matches for the first time since Nov 2018 while manager Steve Bruce has not won 3 PL matches in a row since 4 wins in a row with Wigan back in Jan 2009. Marcelo Biesla will be missing Diego Llorente and Robin Koch but Newcastle welcome back Ryan Fraser & Federico Fernandez.
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Leicester City (H) vs Everton (A)
Head to Head: Everton 9 wins Leicester 6 wins 13 draws
An intriguing match up depending on which teams show up to play. Both teams have had some rollercoaster performances but Everton were hugely impressive last week with a hard fought defeat of league title frontrunners Chelsea. Leicester were no less impressive against Brighton with a virtuoso performance by Jamie Vardy who scored a goal and had 2 assists for James Maddison's 2 goals. Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has never lost to Brendan Rodgers winning all three of his matches against the Leicester boss with 2 matches won for Real Madrid against Liverpool in the 2014/2015 Champions League & winning against Leicester in July in the Premier League. Seamus Coleman, Lucas Digne, James Rodriguez & Fabian Delph are all out injured for Everton & Leicester could run riot with their pace and attack versatility.
Prediction: Leicester 2-1
Fulham (H) vs Brighton Hove & Albion (A)
Head to Head: Fulham 1 win 1 draw
Fulham's performances have picked up as the newly promoted team settles into the dogfight for relegation survival. Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic returns for the Cottagers after missing last week's game and Bobby De Cordova-Reid will look to continue his goal-scoring touch after scoring 3 goals in his last 3 PL home matches for Fulham, matching Dimitar Berbatov's feat back in April 2013. With a goal this week, De Cordova-Reid could become the first Fulham player to score 4 goals in 4 consecutive home games for the Cottagers. Brighton will welcome back Adam Lallana & Tariq Lamptey which could add some much needed spine and creative flair to their midfield.
Prediction: Fulham 2-1
Liverpool (H) vs Tottenham Hotspurs (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 27 wins, Spurs 14 wins 15 draws
A battle of the league ladder leaders. 65 matches unbeaten at home for Liverpool but injuries to several players including the latest to Joel Matip who is racing to be fit for this crunch match and the loss of Diego Jota for 6-8 weeks with a knee injury means Liverpool's home unbeaten record is under massive threat from the dynamic duo of Kane/Son who have 33 goals/assists between them this season so far. Both teams are unbeaten in their last 5 matches but Liverpool have had draws against bottom teams Brighton & Fulham. Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has been playing down Liverpool's injury concerns but will be quietly confident of securing Spurs a much needed win at Anfield with their last win at Anfield coming in a 2-0 win in May 2011, having drawn 8 and lost 17 in between. Liverpool have won their last 4 matches against Spurs and lost only once in their last 15 PL fixtures against Spurs having won 10 and drawn 4.
Prediction: Liverpool 4-3
Aston Villa (H) vs Burnley (A)
Head to Head: Aston Villa 2 wins Burnley 1 win 3 draws
Aston Villa will welcome back Kortney Hause, Tom Heaton & Frederic Gilbert while Ross Barkley will be a game time decision (hamstring). For Burnley, Jack Cork, Phil Bardsley & Dale Stephens are close to a return but this game may be too soon. For the Clarets, a vital win last week against the Gunners would have lifted their spirits and they will look to gain all 3 points and climb out of the relegation zone. For Villa, Jack Grealish will be the focal point as he already has 5 goals and 6 assists so far for the season. Look for Ollie Watkins to benefit from Grealish's midfield dominance.
Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1
Sheffield United (H) vs Manchester United (A)
Head to Head: Manchester United 6 wins Sheffield United 1 win 1 draw
Sheffield United face another daunting ask this week against Manchester United and the stats don't look good. The last time the Blades beat Manchester United was opening weekend of the Premier League way back in 1992. Since then, they have drawn 1 & lost 6 against the Red Devils. United may be playing patchy football but have still managed to win 4 & draw 1 in their last 5 games. With Anthony Martial returning and a full strength squad available to select from, expect manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer breathe a bit easier about his job security over the holiday period coming up.
Prediction: Man Utd 3-0
Last Week: 3 out of 10
Overall season: 57 out of 117
