Apologies I have missed Sat matches predictions. These are my picks from Superbru tipping comp entered and locked in prior to match week 26 starting.
Manchester City (H) vs West Ham United (A)
Prediction: Man City 2-1
West Bromwich Albion (H) vs Brighton Hove & Albion
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Leeds United (H) vs Aston Villa (A)
Prediction: Leeds United 3-1
Newcastle United (H) vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (A)
Prediction: Wolves 3-1
Crystal Palace (H) vs Fulham (A)
Prediction: Crystal Palace 3-2
Leicester City (H) vs Arsenal (A)
Head to Head: Arsena 16 wins Leicester 5 wins 8 draws
Leicester will be without in form James Maddison who has a hip problem. The Foxes will certainly miss his goal scoring involvements (8 goals, 5 assists) for the match against the Gunners. Jamie Vardy has scored 11 goals in 12 appearances against the Gunners, second only to Wayne Rooney (12 goals). Leicester are on a tear with 4 wins in their last 5 matches, 3rd on the ladder & a winning record against the Gunners in their last 6 matches with 4 wins, 1 loss & I draw.
Prediction: Leicester 3-1
Tottenham Hotspur (H) vs Burnley (A)
Head to Head: Spurs 8 wins Burnley 2 wins
Spurs are fading fast with 4 losses in their last 5 matches dropping them to 9th on the ladder. Good news for Jose Mourinho as he has managed more league matches without losing against Burnley than any other club in his managerial career. (P10 W6 D4). Spurs also have a fantastic home record against the Clarets with 5 home wins and 1 game drawn while scoring 16 and conceding just 3 in that time. Burnley do have Chris Wood back and it will require something special from Burnley to record their first away win in the PL against Spurs since October 1974.
Prediction: Spurs 2-1
Chelsea (H) vs Manchester United (A)
Head to Head: Chelsea 18 wins Man Utd 17 wins 22 draws
As close as matchups get between the top teams. Chelsea will be without Thiago Silva but it's United with some injury concerns with Paul Pogba & Juan Mata both out while Scott McTominay, Donnie van de Beek, Edinson Cavani & Daniel James are all game time decisions. Chelsea have been solid defensively under Tuchel having kept 3 clean sheets in a row in their last 3 home games with the blues last keeping 4 clean sheets in a row back in Jan 2018. Look for Marcus Rashford to lead the charge against the Blues against whom he has 7 goal involvements (5 goals, 2 assists) more than he has against any other PL side.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-0
Sheffield United (H) vs Liverpool (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 5 wins Sheffield United 2 wins 2 draws
The Blades will face wounded champions Liverpool at home but manager Chris Wilder is struggling with a horror run of injuries with up to 8 first team players out. Sheffield United have also lost 20 of their 25 PL matches this season (W3 D2), the fewest amount of matches a team has taken to reach 20 defeats in a single campaign in English top flight history. The Reds themselves are coming off a horror stretch of 4 losses in a row including a morale busting loss to Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield last weekend. Captain Jordan Henderson is out with surgery on a groin injury while Fabinho & James Milner have returned to training but this match may be to soon for both players. Jurgen Klopp will be relying on his front three of Mane/Firmino/Salah to come good and get amongst the goals particularly Mo Salah who has 16 goals in his last 17 matches in all competitions.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-0
Everton (H) vs Southampton (A)
Head to Head: Everton 18 wins Southampton 13 wins 12 draws
February is a month that Ralph Hasenhuttl & the Saints fans would like to forget very quickly. With no wins in the PL for the month, including a 9-0 hiding from Manchester United, the Saints just cannot find a way to win. Compounding the results is the injury to gun midfielder Oriel Romeu who will miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle. He'll be joining new signing Takumi Minamino (hamstring), Kyle Walker-Peters, Ibra Diallo, Theo Walcott, Michael Obafemi & William Smallbone who are all injured. The Toffees are undefeated in 15 PL home games against the Saints (W10 D5) since losing to them 2-0 in 1997/98 season. With Richarlison providing pace and power through the final half and Dominic Calvert-Lewin providing an able foil with his goal-sneaking prowess and aerial ability, manager Carlo Ancelotti will be willing his team to find the 3 points to keep his team's European qualification dream alive.
Prediction: Everton 3-1
Manchester City (H) vs Wolverhampton Wolves (A)
Head to Head: ManCity 7 wins Wolves 4 wins 2 draws
City's last defeat was a 2-0 loss to Spurs in late November. Since then, the Citizens have recorded 14 consecutive PL wins that has seen Pep Guardiola's side top of the table with a handy 12 point lead ahead of Manchester United. Wolves have recovered from a mid-season slump in form to be unbeaten in their last 5 PL matches (W3 D2). While City have been firing on all cylinders up front, the defence has been nothing short of outstanding. City have the most clean sheets across all 4 tiers of English football and more impressively across the top 5 European leagues backed by Ederson in goals who has kept more clean sheets (15) than goals conceded (14).
Prediction: ManCity 3-1
Thursday morning match predictions picked via Superb tipping comp prior to matches played.
Burnley (H) vs Leicester City (A)
Prediction: Leicester 2-1
Sheffield United (H) vs Aston Villa (A)
Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1
Crystal Palace (H) vs Manchester United (A)
Prediction: ManUtd 3-1
Fulham (H) vs Tottenham Hotspur (A)
Head to Head: Spurs 15 wins Fulham 7 wins 7 draws
Another London derby this week between two London teams that have both much to lose and gain from this match. Fulham are desperately trying to claw their way out of the relegation zone and have won 2 & drawn 3 of their last 5 games conceding just a solitary goal and keeping 2 clean sheets at home in the timeframe. A tall order to follow when you have Spurs visiting with the goal-scoring exploits of Son Heung-Min & Harry Kane combined and a fantastic 2 goal effort by Gareth Bale reminiscent of his Spurs form from his last season in 2012-13 before leaving for Real Madrid. Fulham have won just one of their last 14 Pl derbies (D3 L10) & Jose Mourinho will be expecting his team to continue their winning ways and keeping in touching distance of European qualification places.
Prediction: Spurs 3-1
West Bromwich Albion (H) vs Everton (A)
Head to Head: Everton 13 wins West Brom 6 wins 6 draws
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti will be willing his team to continue their fine season with a mid-week victory against the Baggies who have not won a mid-week game (Tues/Wed/Thurs) since beating Swansea City 3-1 back in December 2016. The Baggies did beat Brighton on the weekend but still look one of three teams that will be relegated unless they show a drastic change in form. James Rodriguez will be a game time decision & with Richarlison & Dominic Calvert-Lewin upfront look for the Toffees to go for a win and continue their good form this season.
Prediction: Everton 1-0
Liverpool (H) vs Chelsea (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 23 wins Chelsea 20 wins 14 draws
The Reds finally stemmed the rot last weekend with a clinical 2-0 win against the Blades after losing 4 PL matches in a row. While the title defence may have been conceded to Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp will be trying to motivate his players to finish the season strong and grab one of the automatic Champions League qualification places. But the Chelsea that Liverpool so comfortably earlier in the season are a completely different side under new manager Thomas Tuchel who could become the 3rd Chelsea manager after Jose Mourinho & Luis Filipe Scolari to go unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions. Liverpool have won 4 straight against Chelsea in the PL and if they win this game would become only the second team to win 5 consecutive matches against Chelsea after Blackburn Rovers who had 7 wins in between Feb 1993 & May 1996.
Prediction: 1-1 draw
Last Week: 4 out of 11
Overall season: 118 out of 258
