Wolverhampton Wolves (H) vs Leeds United
Prediction: Leeds 2-1 (This pick was made prior to the match being played).
Southampton (H) vs Chelsea (A)
Head to Head: Chelsea 24 wins Southampton 9 wins 10 draws
4 wins in a row for Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel has steadied the club since frank Lampard's departure. The Blues are aiming for 3 away wins for their new manager. The last time Chelsea had 3 wins under a first time manager was in 2009 with Carlo Ancelotti. For the Saints, the news doesn't get any better for them as Chelsea have won their last 5 PL matches at Southampton while only losing 2 of their last 28 matches against South coast sides (W21 D5 L2). For Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, what started as a strong early start to the season has turned into a nightmare with the Saints losing 5 on the trot with 18 goals conceded and just 4 goals scored.
Prediction: Chelsea 4-1
Burnley (H) vs West Bromwich Albion (A)
Head to Head: West Brom 3 wins Burnley 1 win 3 draws
West Brom have the better record with 3 wins against Burnley and this could continue this weekend with Burnley facing fresh injury concerns for Robbie Brady (Achilles) & Johann Berg Gudmundsson (hamstring) both out. Striker Chris Wood is a game time decision but Matej Vydra is back as is Captain Ben Mee after having to leave last week's game with a head injury. West Brom desperately need a win to keep in touch with the teams above them as they currently sit in 19th spot and face relegation if things don't improve quickly.
Prediction: West Brom 2-1
Liverpool (H) vs Everton (A)
Head to Head: Liverpool 24 wins Everton 9 wins 24 draws
The Merseyside derby is back & Liverpool won't have happy memories of the last derby between the two sides at the start of the season when they lost inspirational captain Virgil Van Djik for the season after a horror tackle by Everton GK Jordan Pickford. The two teams have drawn their matches 24 times which is the most between any rivals while with 22 red cards in between the two teams (also a league high), there is clearly no love lost between the two sides either. Liverpool will be without Fabinho who is still recovering from a muscle injury while Everton are boosted by the return of their top goal scorer this season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and long term injury casualty Allan. Yerry Mina who has been a defensive rock for Carlo Ancelotti is out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring strain.
Prediction: 2-2 draw
Fulham (H) vs Sheffield United (A)
Head to Head: Fulham 1 win, Sheffield United 1 win 1 draw
Another relegation 6 pointer match between two sides that have shown improvement recently but not enough to warrant safety from heading back to the Championship next season. Bobby De Cordova-Reid is the only Fulham player to have scored more than once at Craven Cottage this season with three. Fulham's main striker from last season Aleksander Mitrovic continues his woeful injury run and has just 2 goals this season after bagging 26 in 40 games last season in the Cottager's successful return to the PL. For the Blades, goals have been scarce with the team having failed to score in half their 24 league matches, their highest such share in a single PL campaign in their history
Prediction: Fulham 1-0
West Ham United (H) vs Tottenham Hotspur (A)
Head to Head: Tottenham Hotspur 24 wins West Ham 15 wins 10 draws
West Ham & David Moyes are the surprise packet for the season after last season's struggles under Slaven Bilic. The Hammers have 42 points from 24 matches this season which is more than they had the entire last season with 39. This is also their best total in a campaign since 1985/86 season (48) when they finished 3rd in the league. Spurs need to turn around their season after just a single win in their last 5 games against West Brom and have slipped to 9th & out of European qualification places. Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has faced David Moyes 15 times in all competitions without losing & needs to turn around the team's form otherwise next season could see the departure of their two biggest stars in Harry Kane & Son Heung-Min.
Prediction: Spurs 4-3
Aston Villa (H) vs Leicester City (A)
Head to Head: Leicester 9 wins Aston Villa 5 wins 9 draws
Are Leicester the real deal this season after failing to go the distance the past few seasons. The Foxes have lost impressive James Justin for the season but welcome back Ricardo Pereira & Timothy Castagne. Along with the support of Harvey Barnes, James Maddison & the ever dangerous Jamie Vardy, Leicester are on a tear climbing into the top 3. Villa did beat Leicester at home earlier this season and with their 12 clean sheets from 22 games this season will be looking at doing the double over Leicester for the first time since the 2003/04 season. A shout out to Jamie Vardy who has been involved in 99 PL goals since turning 30 (81 goals, 18 assists). He would join a select group of players aged 30+ who have been involved in 100+ goals (Teddy Sheringham, Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer, Ian Wright & Gianfranco Zola).
Prediction: Leicester 3-1
Arsenal (H) vs Manchester City (A)
Head to Head: Arsenal 23 wins Man City 14 wins 10 draws
Is the title race already over and have Man City & Pep Guardiola won their 3rd PL title together already? The Citizens have now won 24 straight matches across all competitions and 12 straight in the PL. The Gunners, while having improved, have lost their last 7 PL matches against Man City. They have only ever lost more consecutively against Leeds United, with eight between 1973 & 1976.
Prediction: Man City 3-0
Manchester United (H) vs Newcastle United (A)
Head to Head: ManUtd 30 wins Newcastle United 7 wins 14 draws
Two draws for the Red Devils in their last two games have been frustrating for manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer but in Newcastle, Man Utd have the perfect opportunity to capitalise and grab 3 points at home and solidify their position in the top 3. For Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, Old Trafford has not been a happy hunting ground for Steve Bruce as a manager despite having played over 300 odd games for United in his playing career. Overall, he has managed a measly one point from 33 available (D1 L10) in his managerial career. For the Geordies, their record at Old Trafford is even more abysmal with just one win in 35 games at Old Trafford (D9 L25) last winning 1-0 in Dec 2013. For Newcastle, Callum Wilson is out injured and with his 15 goal involvements across the season (10 goals, 5 assists) will be sorely missed by a Newcastle squad desperately struggling to avoid falling into the bottom three.
Prediction: Manchester United 5-0
Brighton (H) vs Crystal Palace (A)
Head to Head: Brighton 2 wins Crystal Palace 2 wins 3 draws
Brighton are the better team of the two currently with 3 wins & 2 draws in their last 5 games. The Seagulls will be looking at keeping 4 consecutive clean sheets for the first time in the PL. For Palace, a steady start to the season has curtailed into a deep dive into mid table mediocrity since Wilfried Zaha's absence due to illness & injury. With the likes of Eberichi Eze and Christian Benteke in his squad, manager Roy Hodgson will be hoping for a better result to keep the Eagles away from relegation danger.
Prediction: Brighton 1-0
Leeds United (H) vs Southampton (A)
Head to Head: Leeds 12 wins Southampton 5 wins 7 draws
Leeds manager Marcelo Biesla will be hoping that Patrick Bamford scores in this match. The Leeds striker has scored in all of Leeds home wins this season (4) while the Whites have won none of their 7 matches at Elland Road in which he has failed to score (D2 L5). Leeds will be hoping to avoid losing 3 consecutive matches which they have avoided this season so far. For the Saints, a sigh of relief over the weekend as they managed to stop their losses and snatch a point against much-fancied Chelsea. Danny Ings needs to find form again if the Saints are to avoid slipping further while Takumi Minamino has 2 goals in 3 appearances since his loan move from Liverpool.
Prediction: Southampton 2-1
Last Week: 5 out of 10
Overall season: 114 out of 247
Prediction Success: 46.15%
